Specialized Spanish

The San Cristobal Language School offers a wide variety of Specialized Spanish Packages designed to address the unique needs of working professionals. These Spanish Packages have been designed to help working professionals—engineers, health workers, business professionals, social workers, and volunteers—communicate more effectively with their Spanish speaking colleagues and clients. Specialized Spanish Packages are reviewed with students either in advance of classes or on the first day of class so that they can be tailored more closely to unique needs and interests. Where possible, packages include tours of relevant Mexican facilities as well as meetings and exchanges with Mexican counterparts.
Please note that Specialized Spanish Packages assume a basic knowledge of Spanish (including a firm grasp of the present tense), one equivalent to the level of Spanish typically achieved by students who have participated in our Standard Spanish classes for at least two weeks.)
Spanish Lessons last for 4 hours a day, and are divided into two sections:
- 2 hours of Structure.
- 2 hours of Practice and Uses.
Our Plus Packages offer an additional 1 hour per day of guided conversation practice with a teacher to solidify the lessons you have learned. For this hour, you teacher will put the practice in a social, cultural and historical context so that along with Spanish you will gain meaningful knowledge about Mexico with trips out into San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas.

The San Cristobal Language School's Specialized Engineers Package is a comprehensive, flexible course that focuses on the special needs of Engineers. The package has been designed in collaboration with experienced Spanish teachers and experienced engineers. It prepares engineers to work productively with their Spanish speaking colleagues and clients.

The San Cristobal Language School's Diplomat Package is a comprehensive course that focuses on the special needs of diplomats. The package, which is always tailored to the unique communication needs of the student diplomat, has been designed in collaboration with experienced Spanish teachers and diplomats.

Volunteers
Volunteerism is one of the founding principles of the San Cristobal Language School. Collectively, our Directors and Staff have many years of experience as volunteers in Mexico and elsewhere in Latin America. Our Volunteer Package is a comprehensive course that focuses on the special needs of today’s Volunteers. The package has been designed in collaboration with experienced Spanish teachers and volunteers. It prepares Volunteer not only to communicate with, but also to understand the cultural background of their Spanish speaking colleagues and clients.
The kinds of demands that volunteering opportunities place on communication skills vary. In order to tailor the Specialized Volunteering Package to the demands of your particular opportunity, we will mail you a questionnaire designed to help us understand the opportunity and the specialized communication skills that it requires.
